Spotlight: Makiya Grace

There is a small beauty with a miracle of a story. She is my niece, her name is Makiya.

She is for one, a conception miracle. She was a welcomed surprise. From The moment I found out she was being formed, I felt a burden for her health. She was covered in prayer from the beginning by friends and family, another proof that prayer works.

Makiya was born January 14, 2011 due to complications that had not connection to her. She was 3 weeks early. Born 4 lbs 12 oz, she was perfectly healthy. With her birth lies her miracle. In her umbilical cord, there were 2 knots. With one wrong move, those could have been pulled tight and she would have been stillborn.

In most circumstances, one knot is a cause of death. Nurses told my in-laws "Do you understand that this is a miracle?" They brought the umbilical cord to research because they have never seen anything like it.

She is a miracle, hence her middle name. God given grace for life.

She had jaundice when she was first born, and had to constantly be on lights.

A beautiful miracle. 10 fingers 10 toes. So perfect in every way.

I love all eight of my nieces and nephews very much, don't get me wrong. Makiya is just the first that I have been able to be there since birth. I love to hold her and just stare at this divine design.

I have the privilege to watch her every Wednesday for a couple hours, and it never seems enough. Watching her grow week to week is an unexplained phenomenon of life. Wednesdays just seem to be the highlight of my week.

Doesn't get much cuter!
